-----------------Lyrics--------------------
As the blood flows down from
The mountains of reminiscence
All that is left is to ponder on my mistakes
Pain is the most bitter truth i have ever known
and nothing needs me
Absorbed in silence
To speak from pillars
Wallow in blood
To always wish for the worst
When dusk is like a dagger
Sever the tongues of wisdom
Seal the mouths with ash
To abort all hope
Amongst the sun i will only find bleakness
And far away wait the ones that will come back
To extinguish the light and to breed darkness
Loss is the most soulless god i have ever known
and nothing needs me
I see the gates unfolding with eyes like tombs
I watch the fire bursting with shadows and wounds
I am the one that you lost trust in
I gained a shadow that does not rest
Life is a severe sermon lectured by death
It is another lesson in lessening
At least i tried once with all my will
And i’ve seen no grave but life itself
No greater grace than our grief
No greater chasm than our sin

One of the best black metal bands of the last 8 years, which means they're beyond the boring tropes of the label. Intelligent and innovative with music geared towards the emotive ends of the work, not an adornment of scene badges or theatrical misanthropy. stevstemac

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
